Finished in 2013, Grade II listed Baker’s Cottage is the ‘gem’ of idyllic Hotham village. This 17th Century dwelling has an inglenook fireplace, stone features and old beams with roof pitch bedrooms. Jim Lawrence lighting and cast iron radiators give the quality edge, along with stunning murals to the upstairs walls.
Downstairs, the spacious kitchen has range cooker, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, microwave and breakfast table to sit 8 people. The sitting room, dining room, front entrance hall and downstairs shower room are one step up from the kitchen and rear hall area.
The dining room, leading from the kitchen has original brick fireplace with wood burning stove.
The comfortable sitting room will not disappoint! Inglenook fireplace with large log burner, and two window seats looking into the garden. From the sitting room through an old latch door is the compact warm utility room with boiler, washer, dryer and ironing facilities.
The front entrance hall has a shower room off it, giving extra bathing facilities.
The property will accommodate a family of eight, or 3 couples , and has 3 bath/shower rooms.
In the cottage, there are ‘roof pitch’ bedrooms, offering family accommodation for 6. The hallway has skilfull murals delighting young and old. The bathroom offers a 'surprise' high backed roll top cast iron bath, with bidet etc.
The master bedroom is unique, themed with Victorian Races and has views of the Yorkshire Wolds and surrounding rural gardens. Morning light, floods in, from the East.
The second bedroom is a ‘walk through’ twin room leading to the master bedroom, and is suitable for families. In a non-family situation this room offers a sizeable dressing room to the master bedroom.
The third interior bedroom is a comfortable twin room with feature stone wall and high roof pitch ceiling with beams. It is similar to the ‘walkthrough’ twin, and has two windows with Wold views.
Our garden guest suite is located in the extra-ordinary summer house in the garden. With large doors opening onto the garden terrace, our garden guest suite offers private accommodation for two adults; a double room and sizeable en-suite walk-in shower room. The stone walled gardens, front and rear, are pretty with roses and peonies: the rear garden has a sheltered BBQ area with high wall, trapping the summer sun. If cooking is not your ‘thing’, the lively, much frequented Hotham Arms is a stone’s throw away - 2 minutes on foot.
The village of Hotham is a well kept secret and is off ‘the beaten track’. Bakers Cottage, is well situated for a peaceful country break, with spectacular scenery and good walking from the door.
